Bananas!

Well lots has happened (again) since Mommy was able to update the blog.  Grandma (YiaYia...whatever you will call her), came to visit us for two weeks.  She helped out lots by doing laundry and hanging with Miss Ainsley so mommy and daddy could get things done.  She even stayed home with Ainsley by herself while mommy got her hair done - what an afternoon treat!

Miss Ainsley has become a real scooter - backwards!  She loves tummy time now, and if you put her on her back she'll roll over to be on her front.  She's very strong - pushes up onto her hands and knees and rocks back and forth and back and forth.  Then flop.  She's also very good at pushing herself backwards until she bumps into something!  Many times we've found her straddling one of the posts on her playmat.

Ainsley has really taken to her bouncy as well.  We brought the big one back out of the bedroom so that Ainsley had something to play in.  A little pillow under the feet (she's still just "thismuch" too short to reach it without a pillow) and she'll sit and play for over a half an hour at a time.  This is great because it frees up Mommy and Daddy's hands to do other things (like wash bottles and make food).

Ainsley has started to say more sounds.  Her big one for over a week was "da-da-da-da-da-da-da".  This is NOT a first word, as it doesn't have anything associated with it, but it was fun for Chris to get to hear our baby girl say "dada".  Now, if we could just get some of those "mom-mom-mom-mom" sounds from her next...

The big news is our little girl is starting to grow up and eat solids.  One day when Daddy was away and Ainsley was bouncing, Mommy sat down to keep her company while she was playing.  Mommy was eating some pear sauce (like applesauce) as part of her breakfast.  Next thing Mommy knew, Miss Ainsley was looking at her like "where is my food mommy"?  So, just for fun, Mommy put a little pear sauce on the end of her spoon to see what Ainsley would do.  What do you know - she went right for it with her mouth!  Then she asked (well looked at Mommy with that look) for more!  A few more bites later and Mommy knew the time had come to start little miss on solids.  The next day Mommy and Daddy did rice cereal with Ainsley and she did great.  After rice cereal it was onto baby food and bananas!  Two days of bananas and it appears that Miss Ainsley really likes having something new to her life.  Tomorrow we'll try a different food too.

The introduction of solids followed closely on the beginning of the if it is near baby it is in her mouth stage.  She loves to slobber on everything - including Mommy and Daddy.  Nothing is safe in our house anymore!

It's starting to get cooler out, so we get to break out the pants and long sleeve clothes.  Ainsley is sleeping in footies at night, which Mommy just thinks are the cutest things ever.  Ainsley had a check up after her ear infection on the 30th of September, and she weighed 11 lb 13 oz.  So close to 12 pounds, I'm sure we're near or over that mark now.

Ainsley can now locate and grab a toy if it is in her general area.  She loves to play with Sapo - her froggie toy.  He has many different textures and sounds so it is good for her sensory development.  Ainsley has also started to reach and touch books as we read them to her - so we make sure they are sturdy books with many things to touch and feel.

Ainsley is now a full "supported sitter" - meaning if you lean her up against something, she can stay upright but just can't quite sit up unassisted...yet.   She's really working on this and I know it is right around the corner.  Next thing, she'll have figured out how to sit up from a laying down position.  It's going to fast!  This coming weekend we'll take the first of two trips to Boston this month - so it will be Ainsley's first trip on a plane.  Mommy and Daddy are trying to remember everything they have to pack for themselves and for Ainsley.  It should be a fun and interesting experience for sure.  It's good practice for when we will all fly to Oregon in November.

Mommy hasn't put pictures on the internet in over a month and needs to get some up soon or there will be rioting on her hands!  There's just so much to do with Ainsley that somehow the computer falls to the bottom of the list of things to do.  Since this is Mommy's memory book, she needs to do a better job of remembering to update it!
