Weekend Notes

Last night, while Daddy and Ainsley were reading bedtime stories, I put together a list of things from the weekend that Ainsley had said or done.  What an amazing little girl we have.  Here are the highlights:

Swimming lessons: We had two swimming lessons this week, making up one for missing this coming weekend due to the holiday.  Despite the fact that it was supposed to be the whole class making up one, we were the only ones that showed up.  It was a great thing, since Ainsley is the most advanced in her class.  It gave us time to have her work one on one with the instructor and allowed Mommy to watch and ask questions on how to keep Ainsley advancing.  She's just amazing in the water.  She loves to jump and go under, can crawl along the wall, blow bubbles, kick, and just enjoys the pool so much.  We do need to work on her floating on her back, but for age 2 she's already doing great.  When we made it to the group lesson on Saturday, Mommy and Ainsley had learned so many new things that Daddy was really impressed!

Swinging:  Ainsley LOVES to swing.  Anywhere we go that has a swing, it is the first thing she asks to play on.  Nan Nan and Pop got her one for her birthday, but it took until this weekend to get it up.  As soon as Daddy was up on the latter to start the process, Ainsley wanted it done RIGHT NOW.  Finally, it was up and she could take the inagural ride on the swing.  She is IN LOVE.  Copying Mommy and Daddy she yells "WEEEEEEE" when she's swinging, and Mommy even got her to put her arms up in the air like on a roller coaster (it's a swing with a harness - no worries about falling out).  Even though it was brand new, Ainsley shared SUPER well with her friend Lucy, taking turns on the new swing.  The only thing that got us inside was that it started to get really windy and look like rain.  Even this morning during breakfast she was asking to go out and swing (in the rain).

"I read it to you" and Imagination on Display: For the past week, at bedtime Ainsley will have us read her a book and then she will take it and say "I read it to you".  We are then treated to a 2 year old version of the book.  It is so fun to watch her mind work.  With how vocal she is and her ever expanding vocabulary, the past weeks we've really been able to see her imagination on display.  It was so apparent last night at bedtime and while reading her books to her Daddy.  It's so much fun to finally get a glimpse inside what she's thinking!

Potty Progress!:  After a very long bath last night, including about 30 minutes playing with Mommy in the tub, both Mommy and Ainsley got out to dry off.  Mommy had to use the potty and Ainsley insisted that she use it too.  Unlike almost every other time, where she sits down and doesn't do anything, last night she said "Ainsley make pee pee too" - and she did!  She's been going once or twice a day at school, but we haven't had success at home in a long time.  We're a long way from being close to trained, but she's making progress.  We were so proud!

Ainsley's Flowers:  For Easter, the bunny brought Ainsley her own gardening kit including a watering can.  That same weekend, we planted some flowers at the house.  Those are Ainsley's flowers and she takes great pride in getting water in her can and watering her flowers.  She loves to be outside and having the little part of the garden that is "hers" just makes it that much more special.
