Dear Ainsley-
Today (well yesterday, but Mommy prefers to spend her weekend time with you) you turn 4 months old. One-third of a year. You have had another busy month of growing and changing. Mommy and Daddy can't believe how fast the time continues to go.
The biggest event in the past month happened just last Friday when you rolled over for the first time. You did it with such ease and skill Mommy thought that maybe you had already done it at daycare and this was just the first time she got to see you. Mommy checked at daycare today and found out that you hadn't rolled over there yet. She's very excited that she was there for your very first time. Right now it seems like you only like to roll over in your crib, but I know you'll be rolling all over the place soon.
Your upper body is very strong now. Mommy and Daddy make sure you have lots of time on your tummy to work on it. You like to push up your head and shoulders while putting your feet up in the back. Mommy thinks you look a little like a seal when you do this, but it is super cute. The next step will be figuring out how to move from this position! You prefer to be sitting up or standing up now because you like to watch the world go by. Holding you up really gives Mommy and Daddy a good arm workout.
You took your first vacation this month to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. You were not such a big fan of the beach, but you did put your toes in the Atlantic Ocean for the first time. You weren't exactly sure what to think about the sand, but you did enjoy digging your piggy toes into it.
We had your three month photos taken this month and you were the perfect little model. You smiled the whole time and Mommy just loves all the pictures she has. Everyone who has seen them thinks you are just the most adorable little girl - Mommy doesn't disagree.
You've had some sort of tummy bug for the first time this month, but it doesn't seem to bother you too much as long as you get pleanty of booty cream put on. I think it bothers Mommy and Daddy more than anything. Some day you'll tell us that we worry too much about things.
You continue to explore your surroundings more. You really love to play on your playmat and with your rings and the other items that hang down for you to touch. You'll also play with your rings sitting in your bumbo. Mommy and Daddy also put out your jumpy chair. You like to hang out in there standing up on your own, even if the seat is still a bit big for you. Mommy can't wait until you figure out how to bounce in it on your own. I know you'll have so much fun.
Daycare had its fall cleaning day this month and you got to spend all day with Nan Nan. She was really looking forward to the day and had such a great time with you while you were there. You even managed to pee just at the right time so that Nan Nan had to wash your clothes. You are such a silly girl!
You got to meet your cousin Andrew and your Aunties Sharon and DJ this month - you even spent some of your 4 month birthday with them. Cousin Andrew loved to hold you for short periods of time and even sang Rock a Bye Baby to you. He also like pushing you in your stroller. You just looked up at him and smiled.
You are a really smiley baby. Mommy and Daddy especially love the special smiles you save just for them. I think Mommy's favorite times are when you are just alone and rocking and spending time just the two of you. Mommy loves when you fall asleep in her arms or on her chest and she can feel you breathe and watch you sleep. Mommy knows you won't always fit in her arms like you do now and she wants to appreciate every minute.
You have become quite the drooler this month, making Mommy and Daddy wonder when you'll start teething. In the last few days you've started to chomp on you pacifiers sometimes instead of sucking on them. You just love to have something in your mouth whether it be a paci or your fingers or something else! Anyone who holds you now just has to be aware they're probably going to get drooled on. You've also started to suck on your bottom lip. It's very funny to look over and see you there with no lip!
You have been a busy girl this past month. You've been to another baseball game, the beach, swimming, to Williamsburg, to support group meetings with Mommy, out to Nan Nan and Pop's, out to dinner and to friends' houses, to watch mommy play softball, to cousin Brady's birthday party, for your pictures, and many other trips. You continue to go on these adventures with a laid back attitude and just enjoying the ride. You go out in your Bjorn, Ring Sling, Moby Wrap, car seat, stroller, and of course Mommy and Daddy's arms.
Mommy is sure that she has already forgotten many of the things you did this past month. She can't wait to see what you do as a 4 month old, just don't grow up too quickly.
Love,
Mommy and Daddy
