Recent Developments

Ainsley has reached the 11 week mark today and continues to grow like a weed!  I figured a "recent developments" theme was appropriate to post once and awhile to keep track of her developmental changes.  In the past week she has really begun to watch things in her surroundings.  She loves to watch her mobile go around and around.  You can often just observe her watch things - perfect case and point, she was entrhalled watching the firework fountains on the 4th of July.  The color, shape, movement and change in lights really "catch her eyes" so to say.  Celing fans are another favorite.

Physically she's pretty much gotten the hang of the whole hold her own head up thing.  Still just a little bit wobbly, but that's only when you're moving her around.  On top of that she really likes to be in the sitting up position and has started to do short stints at daycare and home in a Bumbo (google it).  We got about 5 good minutes the other night before she'd had enough.  She likes to sit up in our laps and sit up facing us on the boppy or our knees.

Ainsley continues to sleep through the night, from about 10-11 pm through 6 am.  Mommy continues to get up once to pump.  I know we are very lucky to have such a good sleeper!

Ainsley is starting to try to roll over, but is still quite a bit from getting there.  She does like to get onto her side to sleep and play at times, and once rolled over to her belly but it was assisted by the slope in the couch and the soft surface underneath.  Regardless, she's starting to get the idea that this rolling over thing could be fun.

Size wise, we can still get her in a few of the larger "newborn" size onesies, but otherwise she's pretty much moved up to 0-3 month and 3 month clothes.  Length-wise, she's been out of newborn stuff for the last 4 weeks or so.  It's been so hot, we haven't had her in many footy outfits to really gauge how length works in those too much, but she seems to fit them about right.  I looked up her weight and length on a percentage chart - she's about average length (40-50%), but small on weight (10-20%).  I like to call her "long and lean".  Our pediatrician said about 50 years ago she'd have been more towards average on weight, but with the bigger size of babies today she's not.  I'm happy she's healthy and don't need a chunker - she's already hard to carry around!
