Letter to Ainsley: 3 Months

Dear Ainsley-

Today you are 3 months old and 13 weeks old.  Mommy and Daddy are constantly amazed at how fast the time is going and how fast you are growing up.  To be honest, this date snuck up on Mommy!  You have been a part of Mommy and Daddy's life for a year now in one way or another.  How Mommy and Daddy's lives have changed and they are so happy you have joined them!

Mommy and Daddy are enjoying every minute they spend with you.  Your personality is starting to come through and, as we knew already, you are just an amazing little girl.  You are alert and love to smile at people - but you have special smiles just for Mommy and Daddy.  They are enough to melt our hearts!

You've had another busy month of "firsts".  You had your first cold (and shared it with Mommy), but it didn't seem to bother you too much.  Mommy did give you some Tylenol one day because you had a slight fever.  Otherwise, you just sneezed out all those boogies for Mommy and Daddy.  Your first big adventure on the night we had to call in the firetruck.  Your first baseball game last week.  You helped Daddy celebrate his first birthday as a Daddy.  Just yesterday you had your first real opportunity to pet Pinot and feel a furry kitty cat.  You had your first 4th of July where you loved to watch the firework fountains sparkle, although you didn't seem to interested in the sparklers themselves.  You had your first night with a "babysitter" this month when Mommy and Daddy went to see Michael Buble (someday you will love his music too) while Nan Nan stayed with you.  You also had a few hours with Nan Nan and Pop while Mommy and Daddy went to dinner for their anniversary.  You are such a pro at staying with other people, even if Mommy and Daddy feel a bit guilty.

You and Mommy continue to breastfeed and through lots of hard work on both of your parts, we're doing mostly breast feeding now.  Its nice that you go with Mommy to support meetings, especially at some of them we can see how much you weigh!  Last week at the meeting you were 9 lbs and 14 oz.  Mommy is confident that you are now over 10 lbs and have grown at least a half inch in length since your 2 month appointment.  You had your first shots at your appointment and after the initial pain, you handled them like a pro without any problems!

You have begun to really take in the world around you.  Mommy and Daddy love when you "tell" them what you did during the day.  We have fun conversations, even if we don't know exactly what you are talking about.  You love to sit up or practice standing with everyone - no more laying down all the time.  If you work as hard at walking as you are at standing now, you're going to walk at an early age.  Mommy and Daddy keep working with you on your tummy time - which you still don't like very much - but you now are scooting with your legs.  Front or back you are a big scooter now.  On your tummy you'll push yourself forward and in circles - Mommy thinks this is mostly because you are mad about being on your tummy.  Someday you'll figure out this means you can move on your own and you won't be mad about it anymore.  When that day comes, watch out world as you'll be on the move!

You are such a good sleeper.  Almost every night you sleep through the night now.  Daddy and you are starting to have a wonderful bedtime routine.  Mommy loves to listen from outside the door while Daddy reads you your bedtime story.  Then you cuddle with Daddy until you fall asleep.  You've started to move around in your crib until you are comfortable.  That means you are never in the same place when we go to wake you up that you were when we put you to bed.  It also means we had to remove your bumpers on your bed - it now looks so sparse and big but you use every inch of it at night it seems!

You are starting to get a little bit of hair now.  It is dark like Mommy and Daddy's hair.  Your eyes still haven't started to change color yet so Mommy and Daddy continue to debate whether you'll have brown eyes like Mommy or blue like Daddy.

You are enamored with your cousin Brady and your cousins Maddie and Kaitlyn love you so much.  Mommy and Daddy are so glad that Aunt Becky and Uncle Matt now live in Virginia so you can spend time with your cousins.  You and Brady like to look and talk at each other.  Maddie and Kaitlyn like to hold you and give you love touches and kisses.  Cousins Brooke and Conor also love to hold you and see how you are doing. You are such a good baby and smile at them when they hold you.

This coming month we can't wait to see how you continue to grow.  You'll have your first vacation when we go to the beach for the first time.  Mommy can't wait to see how you like touching the sand.  Watching you explore the world and learn is one of the best things ever and Mommy's current favorite activity.  You are such a wonderful and special little girl and Mommy and Daddy love you unconditionally.  Happy 3 Month Birthday.

Love,
Mommy and Daddy
